Earlier on Twitter, singer Tems responded to trolls who expect her to be a “Christian savior” in her music. In the tweet, the “Free Mind” artist added that she’s not trying to uphold anyone’s beliefs about religion and doesn’t want to be put into a box with the type of music she puts out.
Tems has done musical collaborations with the likes of chart-topping artists such as Future, Drake, Wizkid, Justin Bieber, and more.
The “No Woman, No Cry” singer also implied that she doesn’t boast about the type of artist she is to prove anything to anyone as she continues her singing career.
“I don’t brag because I’m not playing the same game. I don’t need to brag, I am who I am whether you know it or not.
It is the house that is built on the solid rock that will withstand the storm.
I’m trying to impress myself not you.”
The “Higher” artist ended the tweet storm by using a gif of actor Denzel Washington shutting the door in someone’s face, saying she doesn’t care if anyone approves of her words.
Still, Tems intends to continue to make music for a loyal fanbase who have been with her since she came into the music game in 2018 and said she still has much room to improve.
Recently, another artist spoke up against what trolls have been saying in regards to their career.
Fans came to Mariah, The Scientist’s defense amid comments by a YouTuber, Fab Socialism, claiming she is only getting her music played because she is light-skinned.
