Keri Hilson and Ne-Yo had to share an on-screen kiss for their most recent VH1 film, Hip-Hop Family Christmas Wedding. According to Hilson, the kiss was “awkward,” although the cast felt like a family.

In the past, Keri Hilson and Ne-Yo collaborated on their debut album, “In A Perfect World.” According to an interview with Distractify, Keri has remained friends with Ne-Yo over the years and even received his first child’s newborn picture after leaving the hospital.
Their platonic history is the culprit to the “awkward” kiss in their newest holiday movie, “Hip Hop Family Christmas Wedding.”
“The first kiss that we encountered was our first scene together last year,” Keri told Distractify. “In the script, there was so much kissing. We were just like, yeah, we gotta do this. We avoided it as long as we possibly could.”
The film, which is a sequel produced by Jamie Foxx, features a star-studded cast including Terrance J, Redman, Bow Wow, and more. In the film, Keri plays the bride-to-be in a hip-hop family, navigating negative press and attempting to maintain their image.
Ironically Keri is marrying Ne-Yo, who has recently had some marriage troubles of his own in real life. The “Knock You Down” singer described working on the movie with the cast with an expression of gratitude.
“I was grateful for the opportunities to know these people on a human level,” Keri said. “And not just the legends that you perceive them to be. They happen to be a really well-rounded, very down-to-earth, good human being group of people.”
