Hailing from France and Dallas, respectively, DOMi (keyboards) and JD Beck (drums) are the first signees to Anderson .Paak’s APESHIT label (in partnership with Blue Note). Their debut album NOT TiGHT is in fact very tight, Gen Z jazz that balances prodigious skill with warm soul and hip-hop’s casual cool. It also features Thundercat, Herbie Hancock, and Mac Demarco, as well as .Paak, Busta Rhymes, and Snoop Dogg, who show up on “PiLOT,” the album’s most accessible track.
